Getting Started

tablrr allows you to connect multiple websites to your account. Each website must be verified to ensure only you can embed your listings on your domains. Once verified, you'll receive an API token that you can use to embed listings on that website.

What you can do with sites:

  • Add multiple websites to your account
  • Verify domain ownership for security
  • Get site-specific API tokens for embedding listings
  • Manage all your connected sites in one place
  • Remove sites when you no longer need them

Adding a Website

To add a new website to your account:

  1. Go to your API Tokens settings
  2. Scroll to the "Connected Websites" section
  3. Click "Add Website"
  4. Enter your domain name (e.g., example.com or www.example.com)
  5. Click "Add"
  6. You'll receive a verification code for this website

Note: Each domain (including subdomains) is treated as a separate site. For example, example.com and www.example.com are different sites and both need verification.

Verifying Your Website

After adding a website, you must verify domain ownership before you can use it. tablrr offers two verification methods:

Verification Methods

  1. WordPress Plugin Verification (Recommended if using WordPress)

    • Enter the verification code in your WordPress plugin settings
    • The plugin automatically verifies your domain
    • Works seamlessly with the tablrr WordPress plugin
  2. HTTP File Verification (For non-WordPress sites)

    • Place a verification file on your website
    • Click "Verify" in tablrr
    • tablrr checks the file to confirm ownership
    • Note: This method requires Growth plan or higher

WordPress Plugin Verification

If you're using WordPress with the tablrr plugin:

  1. After adding your website in tablrr, you'll see a verification code
  2. Copy the verification code
  3. In your WordPress admin, go to the tablrr plugin settings
  4. Paste the verification code in the appropriate field
  5. The plugin automatically submits the code from your domain
  6. tablrr verifies your domain ownership automatically
  7. Your site status changes to "Verified"
  8. An API token is automatically created for this site

Benefits:

  • Automatic verification - no manual file uploads
  • Seamless integration with WordPress
  • Token is created automatically after verification

Non-WordPress Verification

If you're not using WordPress or prefer manual verification:

  1. After adding your website, you'll see a verification code
  2. Create a text file named tablrr-verify.txt
  3. Paste the verification code into this file (nothing else, just the code)
  4. Upload the file to your website's root directory (where your index.html or index.php is located)
  5. Ensure the file is accessible at: https://yourdomain.com/tablrr-verify.txt
  6. Return to tablrr and click the "Verify" button next to your site
  7. tablrr will check the file and verify your domain
  8. Once verified, an API token is automatically created

Important:

  • The file must be at the root level, not in a subdirectory
  • The file must be accessible via HTTPS
  • The file content must match the verification code exactly (no extra spaces or characters)
  • This method requires Growth plan or higher

Managing Sites

You can view and manage all your connected websites in the API Tokens settings page.

Viewing Your Sites

  1. Go to API Tokens settings
  2. Scroll to the "Connected Websites" section
  3. You'll see a list of all your sites showing:
    • Domain name
    • Verification status (Pending or Verified)
    • Associated API token (if verified)
    • Actions: Verify, Regenerate Token, Delete

Site Status

  • Pending: Site added but not yet verified
  • Verified: Site verified and ready to use with API token

Removing a Site

To remove a website from your account:

  1. Find the site in your Connected Websites list
  2. Click the "Delete" button
  3. Confirm the deletion
  4. The site and its associated token will be removed

Warning: Removing a site will also delete its API token. Any listings embedded on that website will stop working. Make sure you want to remove the site before confirming.

API Tokens

When you verify a website, tablrr automatically creates a site-scoped API token for that domain.

Viewing Your Token

  1. After verification, your API token appears in the site's details
  2. Click "Show Token" to reveal it
  3. Click "Copy" to copy the token to your clipboard
  4. Use this token in your WordPress plugin or API integration

Regenerating a Token

If you need a new token (for security reasons or if it was compromised):

  1. Find the verified site in your list
  2. Click "Regenerate Token"
  3. Confirm the action
  4. A new token will be generated
  5. Update your WordPress plugin or API integration with the new token

Important: Regenerating a token invalidates the old token. Update all integrations immediately to avoid service interruptions.

Token Security

  • Keep your tokens secret - don't share them publicly
  • Each site has its own unique token
  • Tokens are scoped to their specific domain for security
  • If a token is compromised, regenerate it immediately

Troubleshooting

Verification is failing

Issue: "Verification failed" when using HTTP file method

Solution:

  • Ensure the file is named exactly tablrr-verify.txt (case-sensitive)
  • Check that the file is in your website's root directory
  • Verify the file is accessible at https://yourdomain.com/tablrr-verify.txt
  • Ensure the file contains only the verification code (no extra text, spaces, or line breaks)
  • Check that your website supports HTTPS
  • Wait a few moments after uploading and try again (some servers cache files)

Issue: WordPress plugin verification not working

Solution:

  • Ensure you've entered the verification code correctly in the plugin settings
  • Check that the plugin is the latest version
  • Verify your WordPress site is accessible
  • Try disconnecting and reconnecting the plugin
  • Contact support if the issue persists

I can't add a website

Issue: "You've reached your website limit"

Solution:

  • Free tier users can add 1 website
  • Hobby tier users can add 1 website
  • Growth tier users can add 5 websites
  • Business tier users can add 50 websites
  • Delete unused sites to free up space, or
  • Upgrade your plan for more websites
  • Check your current usage in the billing section

Issue: "Domain already exists"

Solution:

  • This domain is already added to your account
  • Check your Connected Websites list
  • If you don't see it, it may have been deleted - try adding it again
  • Each domain can only be added once per account

My verification code isn't working

Issue: Code not accepted or expired

Solution:

  • Verification codes don't expire, but ensure you're using the current code
  • Check that you copied the entire code (it's a long random string)
  • For HTTP file method, ensure there are no extra characters or line breaks
  • Try generating a new verification code by removing and re-adding the site
  • For WordPress plugin, ensure you pasted the code in the correct field

I lost my API token

Solution:

  1. Go to API Tokens settings
  2. Find your verified site
  3. Click "Show Token" to view it
  4. Or click "Regenerate Token" to create a new one
  5. Update your WordPress plugin or API integration with the token

I want to change my domain

Solution:

  • You cannot change a domain after adding it
  • Delete the existing site
  • Add the new domain as a separate site
  • Verify the new domain
  • Update your integrations to use the new site's token

Verification says "requires Growth plan or higher"

Issue: HTTP file verification blocked for free/Hobby users

Solution:

  • HTTP file verification requires Growth plan or higher
  • Free and Hobby tier users should use WordPress plugin verification
  • If you're not using WordPress, upgrade to Growth plan for HTTP file verification
  • Or use the WordPress plugin even if it's just for verification
