Getting Started
Associations allow you to link operators to groups of related items. Unlike custom fields which store unique values for each operator, associations let multiple operators share the same items.
What you can do with associations:
- Link operators to payment methods, software providers, games, and sports (built-in)
- Specify restricted countries and supported currencies for each operator (built-in)
- Create your own custom association types like "Trading Platforms" "License Types", etc. (paid plans)
- Add items to each association and link multiple operators to them
- Organize operators by shared characteristics
Two types of associations:
- Built-In Associations - Available to all users, pre-configured categories
- Custom Associations - Create your own categories (Hobby tier and higher)
Built-In Associations
Built-in associations are available to all tablrr users and cover common operator characteristics. These associations are divided into two categories:
Standardized Lists (Fixed Items)
These associations have fixed, standardized lists that cannot be modified. They ensure data consistency across all users.
Restricted Countries
Specify which countries cannot access the operator's services. This is commonly used for regulatory compliance or licensing restrictions.
Example: An operator licensed in the UK might restrict access from the United States and France.
How to use:
- Edit your operator
- Scroll to "Operator Associations"
- Click "Add Restricted Countries"
- Select countries from the dropdown
- Save the operator
Note: Countries are standardized worldwide and cannot be customized.
Supported Currencies
List which currencies the operator accepts for deposits, withdrawals, and gameplay.
Example: A global operator might support USD, EUR, GBP, and JPY.
How to use:
- Edit your operator
- Scroll to "Operator Associations"
- Click "Add Supported Currencies"
- Select currencies from the dropdown
- Save the operator
Note: Currencies follow international standards (ISO 4217) and cannot be customized.
Flexible Lists (Add Your Own Items)
These associations allow you to create new items as needed. If an item doesn't exist in the dropdown, you can add it on-the-fly.
Payment Methods
Track which payment options the operator accepts (credit cards, cryptocurrencies, e-wallets, bank transfers, etc.).
Common examples: Visa, Mastercard, Bitcoin, PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, Bank Transfer
How to add new payment methods:
- Edit your operator
- Click "Add Payment Methods"
- Start typing the payment method name
- If it doesn't exist, you'll see "Create [Name]"
- Click to create it
- The new payment method is now available for all your operators
Note: Payment methods are shared globally - once created, they're available to all tablrr users.
Software Providers
List the game software providers whose games are available at the operator.
Common examples: NetEnt, Microgaming, Evolution Gaming, Pragmatic Play, Playtech
How to add new providers:
- Edit your operator
- Click "Add Software Providers"
- Start typing the provider name
- If it doesn't exist, click "Create [Name]"
- The new provider becomes available system-wide
Tip: Check if the provider already exists under a different name before creating duplicates.
Games
Specify which specific games are available at the operator (useful for highlighting popular titles).
Common examples: Book of Dead, Starburst, Gonzo's Quest, Mega Moolah
How to add new games:
- Edit your operator
- Click "Add Games"
- Start typing the game name
- If it doesn't exist, click "Create [Name]"
- The game is added to the global list
Note: For large game portfolios, consider listing only the most popular or featured games.
Sports
For sports betting operators, list which sports are available for wagering.
Common examples: Football, Basketball, Tennis, Horse Racing, Cricket
How to add new sports:
- Edit your operator
- Click "Add Sports"
- Start typing the sport name
- If it doesn't exist, click "Create [Name]"
- The sport becomes available globally
Built-In Associations Summary
| Association | Can Add Items? | Availability | Use Case |
|---|---|---|---|
| Restricted Countries | No (Fixed list) | All users | Regulatory compliance |
| Supported Currencies | No (Fixed list) | All users | Payment options |
| Payment Methods | Yes (Global) | All users | Deposit/withdrawal options |
| Software Providers | Yes (Global) | All users | Game manufacturers |
| Games | Yes (Global) | All users | Specific game titles |
| Sports | Yes (Global) | All users | Betting markets |
Important: Items you create for flexible lists (Payment Methods, Software Providers, Games, Sports) are shared globally and become available to all tablrr users. This ensures consistency and prevents duplicate entries.
Custom Associations
Custom associations allow you to create your own association categories specific to your business needs. This feature is available on paid plans (Hobby tier or higher).
Note: Free tier users can use all built-in associations but cannot create custom association types.
When to Create Custom Associations
Create custom associations when built-in associations don't cover your specific needs:
- Trading Platforms: MT4, MT5, cTrader, TradingView (for forex brokers)
- License Types: UK FCA, Cyprus CySEC, Malta MGA, Curacao (for licensing authorities)
- Regulations: GDPR Compliant, PCI-DSS Certified, AML Compliant
- VIP Programs: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum
- Account Types: Standard, ECN, Pro, Islamic
- Bonus Types: Welcome Bonus, Reload Bonus, Cashback, Free Spins
Key difference: Unlike built-in flexible associations which are global, custom association items are private to your account.
Creating Custom Association Definitions
Before you can use a custom association, you need to create the association definition (the category).
Accessing Custom Associations
- Navigate to Settings from your dashboard
- Click on "Custom Associations" in the settings menu
- You'll see a list of your existing custom associations (if any)
Tip: You can also access Custom Associations from the Operator edit page by clicking the "Manage" link next to "Operator Associations".
Creating a New Association
- Click the "Create Association" button
- Enter the association name (e.g., "Trading Platforms" or "License Types")
- Click "Create"
- You'll be automatically redirected to add items to your new association
Behind the scenes:
- The system generates a unique key from your name (e.g., "Trading Platforms" becomes
trading_platforms) - If you create an association with the same name, a number suffix is added (e.g.,
trading_platforms_2)
Tip: Choose descriptive names that clearly indicate what type of items will be in the association.
Adding Items to Custom Associations
Once you've created a custom association definition, you need to add items to it.
Adding Items
- From Custom Associations settings, click on an association to manage its items
- Click the "Add Item" button
- Enter the item name (e.g., "MetaTrader 4" or "UK FCA License")
- Click "Save"
- Repeat to add more items
Examples:
For a "Trading Platforms" association, add items like:
- MetaTrader 4
- MetaTrader 5
- cTrader
- TradingView
- ProRealTime
For a "License Types" association, add items like:
- UK FCA
- Cyprus CySEC
- Malta MGA
- Curacao eGaming
- Gibraltar
Editing Items
- Find the item you want to edit
- Click the "Edit" button (pencil icon)
- Update the item name
- Click "Save"
Note: Editing an item name updates it everywhere it's used, including all operators linked to that item.
Deleting Items
- Find the item you want to delete
- Click the "Delete" button (trash icon)
- Confirm the deletion
Warning:
- Deleting an item will remove it from all operators that are linked to it
- The data cannot be recovered
- Consider carefully before deleting items that are actively used
Linking Operators to Custom Associations
Once you've set up custom associations and added items, you can link operators to those items.
Adding Custom Associations to Operators
- Go to the Operators section
- Create a new operator or edit an existing one
- Scroll down to "Operator Associations"
- Below the built-in associations, you'll see your custom associations
- Click "Add [Association Name]" (e.g., "Add Trading Platforms")
- Select items from the dropdown
- You can select multiple items for each association
- Selected items appear as tags
- Click "Save" to link the operator
Removing Items from Operators
- Edit the operator
- Find the association section
- Click the "X" on any tag to remove that item
- Save the operator
Note: Removing an item from an operator doesn't delete the item itself - it just unlinks it from that specific operator.
Managing Custom Associations
As your business grows, you'll want to organize and maintain your custom associations.
Viewing Your Custom Associations
The custom associations settings page shows:
- Association name
- Number of items in each association
- The internal key used for the association
- Actions: Edit, Delete, and view items buttons
Reordering Custom Associations
The order you set for custom associations determines how they appear on operator forms (they appear below built-in associations).
- Go to Settings > Custom Associations
- Drag associations up or down using the grip icon
- Changes save automatically
- The new order will appear on all operator forms
Tip: Put your most commonly used custom associations at the top for easier access.
Editing Custom Association Names
- Find the association you want to edit
- Click the "Edit" button (pencil icon)
- Update the association name
- Click "Save"
Note: Editing the association name doesn't change its internal key. Existing operator links remain intact.
Deleting Custom Associations
- Find the association you want to delete
- Click the "Delete" button (trash icon)
- A warning will confirm the action
- Confirm the deletion
Warning: Deleting a custom association will:
- Permanently remove the association and all its items
- Remove all links from operators (operators will no longer be associated with those items)
Important: The data cannot be recovered. Be absolutely certain before deleting associations that are actively used across many operators.
When to Use Each Type
Understanding when to use built-in vs. custom associations will help you organize your operators effectively.
Use Built-In Associations When:
- You're tracking standard operator characteristics
- The category already exists (countries, currencies, payment methods, providers, games, sports)
- You want global consistency (items available to all tablrr users)
- You're okay with items being publicly available
Examples:
- Payment options → Use built-in "Payment Methods"
- Game manufacturers → Use built-in "Software Providers"
- Available sports → Use built-in "Sports"
Use Custom Associations When:
- The category doesn't exist in built-in associations
- You need private, account-specific items
- You're tracking industry-specific characteristics
- You need more control over the association
Examples:
- Trading platforms for forex → Create "Trading Platforms"
- Regulatory compliance → Create "Regulations"
- Industry certifications → Create "Certifications"
Decision Tree
Does a built-in association exist for this category?
- Yes → Use the built-in association
- No → Go to step 2
Do you need items to be private to your account?
- Yes → Create a custom association (requires paid plan)
- No → Consider requesting a new built-in association category
Is this a one-time value per operator?
- Yes → Consider using a custom field instead
- No → Create a custom association
Managing Associations
Multi-Select Functionality
All associations (both built-in and custom) support multi-select:
- Operators can be linked to multiple items in the same association
- An operator can accept both Visa and Bitcoin
- An operator can support both MT4 and MT5
- No limit to how many items you can select
Association Order on Operator Forms
Associations appear on operator forms in this order:
- Built-in associations (Restricted Countries, Supported Currencies, Payment Methods, Software Providers, Games, Sports)
- Custom associations (in the order you've set in settings)
Items Count
Both built-in and custom association items show an "operators count" badge in their respective management pages, helping you track which items are actively used.
Associations vs. Custom Fields
You might be wondering when to use associations versus custom fields. Here's a quick guide:
Use Associations When:
- Multiple operators share the same items (e.g., multiple brokers support MT4)
- You want to group operators by shared characteristics
- Items can be reused across many operators
- You're tracking relationships, not unique values
- Examples: Payment methods, trading platforms, license types, game providers
Use Custom Fields When:
- Each operator has a unique value (e.g., License Number, Founded Year)
- You're storing operator-specific data
- Values shouldn't be shared between operators
- You need different field types (text, number, URL, select)
- Examples: Minimum deposit amount, customer support email, VIP program URL, welcome bonus percentage
Summary:
- Associations = Shared items (many-to-many relationships)
- Custom Fields = Unique values (operator-specific data)
Example comparison:
Instead of creating a custom field "Payment Method 1", "Payment Method 2", "Payment Method 3" (bad approach), use the built-in Payment Methods association to link multiple payment methods to the operator (good approach).
Troubleshooting
I can't find a built-in association for what I need
Issue: Need an association type that doesn't exist in built-in options
Solution:
- Check if you can use an existing built-in association creatively
- Create a custom association if you have a paid plan
- If you're on a free plan, consider upgrading to access custom associations
- Contact support to suggest a new built-in association category
I can't add new countries or currencies
Issue: Can't create new countries or currencies
Solution:
- Countries and currencies are standardized lists that cannot be modified
- Countries follow ISO country codes
- Currencies follow ISO 4217 currency codes
- If a country or currency is missing, it may be because it's not recognized internationally or is deprecated
- Contact support if you believe a valid country or currency is missing
My created item isn't appearing for other operators
Issue: Created a payment method/provider/game/sport but don't see it in other operators
Solution:
- For built-in flexible associations: Items are global and should appear immediately. Try refreshing the page.
- For custom associations: Items only appear after you've added them to that specific association
- Ensure you saved the item properly
- Check browser console for errors
I can't see the Custom Associations option
Issue: Custom Associations doesn't appear in Settings
Solution:
- Custom associations are only available on paid plans (Hobby tier or higher)
- Free tier users can use all built-in associations only
- Upgrade your plan to access custom associations
- Check your current plan in the billing section
Items aren't appearing in the dropdown
Issue: Can't see items when trying to link them to an operator
For built-in associations:
- Countries and currencies are always available (fixed lists)
- For flexible associations, ensure items have been created
- Try refreshing the page
For custom associations:
- Ensure you've created items for that association
- Go to Settings > Custom Associations and click on the association
- Add items if the list is empty
- Items must be saved before they appear in operator forms
I accidentally created a duplicate item
Issue: Same payment method/provider/game/sport exists multiple times
Solution:
For built-in flexible associations:
- Since items are global, duplicates affect all users
- Check the exact spelling - "NetEnt" and "Net Ent" are different
- Use the search function to find existing items before creating new ones
- Contact support to merge or remove duplicate global items
For custom associations:
- Delete the duplicate item from Settings > Custom Associations
- Update affected operators to use the correct item
- The system prevents exact duplicate codes, so slight variations may exist
Changes aren't saving
Issue: Selected items but they don't persist after saving
Solution:
- Ensure you clicked the "Save" or "Update Operator" button at the bottom of the form
- Check for validation errors at the top of the page
- Verify that items weren't deleted from the association
- For custom associations, verify the association still exists
- Try refreshing the page and re-selecting items
- Check browser console for JavaScript errors
Too many associations cluttering the form
Issue: Operator forms are getting crowded with many associations
Solution:
For built-in associations:
- You cannot hide built-in associations
- Simply don't select items for associations you don't use
- Empty associations (with no selected items) take minimal space
For custom associations:
- Delete custom associations that are no longer needed
- Combine similar custom associations if possible
- Reorder custom associations to put the most important ones first
- Only create custom associations that add real value to your workflow
I deleted a custom association by mistake
Issue: Accidentally deleted a custom association and all its items
Solution:
- Unfortunately, deleted custom associations and their items cannot be recovered
- All operator links to those items have been removed
- You'll need to recreate the association definition
- Re-add all the items
- Re-link operators to items manually
- Consider being more careful with deletions in the future
Note: Built-in associations cannot be deleted.
Can't find which operators use a specific item
Issue: Want to see all operators linked to a specific item
Solution:
For custom associations:
- Go to Settings > Custom Associations
- Click on the association
- Each item shows an "operators count" badge
- Currently, there's no built-in filter, but you can:
- Edit operators one by one to check
- Use the API to query operators with specific items
- This is a feature that may be added in the future
For built-in associations:
- Currently no management interface exists for built-in association items
- You'll need to check operators individually
- Consider using the API for bulk queries
Next Steps
Now that you understand operator associations:
- Start with built-in associations - Link your operators to payment methods, providers, games, and sports
- Add items on-the-fly - When editing operators, create new payment methods, providers, games, or sports as needed
- Upgrade for custom associations - Create custom association types for industry-specific needs
- Organize your workflow - Reorder custom associations to match your priority
- Keep items up to date - Maintain your custom association items as new platforms, licenses, or features become available
Associations help you organize operators by what they have in common, making it easier to understand your operator portfolio at a glance and help your users find operators that meet their specific needs.
